Is it safe to drive my Hyundai Getz to the dealer with the 'Malfunction' light on?

I have a 3-year-old Hyundai Getz 1.1 petrol. The 'Malfunction' light is occasionally coming on and when I accelerate the power is "lumpy". The handbook indicates it could be a faulty component with the exhaust gases. I recently moved to the highlands of Scotland, so my nearest Hyundai dealer is 70 miles away. Can I safely drive the car to the dealer for inspection and repair?

The cause is probably a slightly gummed up lambda sensor. If you can find a fuel system cleaning additive at your local filling station try putting that in the tank, then topping up with the best petrol 98 or 99 Ron. Then give it some revs. That might cure it.
