What happened to the Rover 75's diesel engine?

Whatever happened to the diesel engine used in the Rover 75? I've been driving one for the last two years and it has been excellent: economical, seemingly more reliable than some modern engines and keeping good values for quite an old car now. Dealers advertise them as being BMW-powered but is this correct? I thought it was based on a Perkins block.

It is a BMW engine and sits under the bonnets of the BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, X1, F25 X3 and even the F10 5 Series. With Efficient Dynamics, such as stop/start and a regenerating alternator it can do 0-60 in under eight seconds and achieve close to 60mpg in the 320d ED.
