Gallons? Litres?

Another 2 years have gone by and I write again to wonder why people still talk about miles per gallon. Is it not now time to be honest enough to promote miles per litre instead? When was petrol last sold in gallons in the UK?

No because that would be mixing imperial and metric which would be completely stupid. The UK measurement is miles per gallon. In Europe it is litres per 100km. In other parts of the world it is kilometres per litre.
