Dyspraxical advice

I was interested to see the recent article on the problems dyspraxics face in learning to drive. My 18-yr old son was diagnosed with dyspraxia several years ago.

He is keen to learn to learn to drive and given his co-ordination problems we are considering whether he should learn (and take a test) on an automatic car first and "upgrade" to manual (if he wishes to) later on. Our reasoning is that not having the gears in addition to road positioning/manoeuvring etc. to think about might make it a less stressful experience for him (and us) and success might come sooner.

What I would do is take him to a very good driver training school where he can be trained and assessed off public roads before making any decision as to whether or not to buy him a car.
