What's the speed limit on my local A-road, and can you recommend a speed camera warning device?

I do a 70-mile commute to and from work on the A449 between Newport (South Wales) and Ross-on-Wye five days a week. Half the journey is on an A-road and the rest on a dual carriageway. Is the limit 70mph for both or, is the former a maximum 60mph limit? This route is an extremely 'fast' route and many drivers, myself included, sit at 80-85 mph. There is very little traffic in the mornings. Also I have narrowly escaped the escalating number of mobile camera vans on several occasions. Are you able to recommend some sort of in-car device that will forewarn me of these revenue-raising traps?

The national speed limit is 60mph, which is for all single carriageway 'A' roads not subject to a lower limit. The limit for cars on dual carriageways and motorways is 70mph. But 80 - 85mph on a speedo is likely to be a true 75 - 80mph. Though the law to specifically ban radar and laser detectors was never fully passed by Parliament, I'm not going to recommend any. Unless the detector has a range of three miles (in which case it could be beeping all the time) it is almost impossible for these devices to detect a laser trap before a skilled laser trap operator clocks the car.
