Should I continue servicing my 10 year old car at a main dealer or switch to an independent?
I have a 67-plate Lexus NX. It has 45,000 miles on the clock and is due a "small" service for which Lexus have quoted £375. Given the car's age does the fact it has a full Lexus service history have any value? Should I continue to have it serviced at Lexus or could I save money using a local garage?

It is not possible to put an accurate monetary value of a full main dealer service history on a vehicle's price, but it is fair to say that in the eyes of many of buyers it is an attractive factor and could help you sell your car more quickly and potentially for a higher price. However this has to be balanced against the additional cost of main dealer servicing over an independent garage, so it is a matter of personal choice. If you plan to sell your vehicle privately then arguably it has greater value, whereas if you are trading in against another car it is of potentially less benefit.
