Who is the previous owner of a leased car?

I'm looking for a 2 to 3 year old Toyota Corolla Estate. I say to a dealer I want one that is 1 or 2 owners and specify private owners. I don't want one registered to either Toyota GB or used as a cab. On one car I am told the previous owner is a Car Leasing company. Not sure what to make of that?

A leased car is owned either by the finance company or the lease provider. More specifically, the legal owner is typically the finance company while the registered keeper is the leasing company. This means that the vehicle could have been used as a company car, but also could have been a personal lease and therefore used by a private individual.
