What family and business use car is most reliable for under £20k?
I’ve had a run of bad luck with recent used cars. My Toyota Auris hybrid estate had its catalytic converter sawn off and was in the garage for weeks as replacement parts out of stock. Now my 2019 Karoq (which has already needed new front bushes) is stuck in the dealership as it’s gone into limp mode and is awaiting diagnostic appointment to be fixed under warranty. I need an automatic, family sized car that can reliably do 15-20k miles a year for work. We can’t charge at home. Budget is £20k max. What would you recommend please?

Although you had a bad experience with parts supply issues with your Auris, a Toyota is your best option if reliability is high on your agenda. £20,000 will be enough for a relatively recent example of the Corolla, which is an excellent car with a great reliability record.

Very efficient hybrid hatchback with a surprisingly upmarket interior. Good to drive, too. Standard equipment levels are generous.
