Is a Toyota Camry Hybrid suitable for 2.5K per year local journeys only?
We like both the Camry and Corolla Hybrids, both port and direct injection to mitigate carbon build up over low annual mileage, but worried about batteries and hybrid system not liking such low annual mileage and causing issues. Should I avoid? Would the low mileage also rule out cars with ANY type of hybrid assisted engines, so just go for pure petrol?

A very low annual mileage such as this should not cause any issues with the drive battery on a hybrid, but some owners have experienced issues with the 12V battery with frequent short journeys not giving sufficient time for it to recharge. A trickle charger or battery maintainer would prevent this issue, but if this is not an ideal solution you may wish to stick with a pure petrol instead. You may also wish to consider a plug-in hybrid if you can charge at home, as you could carry out shorter journeys on electric power alone and having the vehicle plugged in when not in use would maintain the 12V battery also.

Do mild hybrids suffer the same problems as all other hybrids, not suitable for regular short journeys.
