Can I charge my hybrid's 12V battery with a solar panel?
Can I have my hybrid hardwired safely with a solar charger to keep 12 volt battery charged as I don't do enough mileage to maintain it. I park on public highway so cannot charge it conventionally and have no wish to drive aimlessley to charge its self

There are a number of solar chargers available on the market, many of which offer the option to charge via the 12V accessory socket or clips to connect directly to the battery. While it may be possible to have one permanently connected to the battery, we would not advise doing this yourself and would suggest speaking to an automotive electrician.
