Why have the injectors failed in my Ford Fiesta?
Last week while driving, the red oil light popped up on the dash of my 2016 Ford Fiesta and the engine made a horrible rattling sound. I pulled over, parked up and left the car to be recovered by the garage.
The car has now been checked by the garage and they are telling me that the injectors have failed, causing petrol to leak into the oil, which has in turn ruined my wet belt and my turbo, meaning I will need a new wet belt, turbo, injectors, etc. Does this sound right?
There was no signs building up to my car breaking down, the turbo was working absolutely fine, it did not go into limp mode or cut out and so on. It was all very sudden and I did not continue to drive.

Failed injectors resulting in over-fuelling could cause significant damage to your engine if fuel has started to mix with oil, as this will dilute the effectiveness of the oil and any parts that require lubrication have the potential to be damaged. We would have expected the engine to sound or possibly behave differently if the injectors were not operating correctly, but it is possible that there may not have been any obvious signs. If you are unsure of the diagnosis by the garage you could seek a second opinion from an independent Ford specialist, but this may require the vehicle to be recovered to another location which may be expensive.
