Why is a replacement Audi navigation SD card so expensive?

I just bought an Audi Q3 but the sat nav has no SD card. I have contacted Audi and they say it needs to be activated at a cost of £670. Surely an SD card is not that much

Annoyingly, you need to get your SD card activated as it is tailored to your unit, though there are companies offering this service for less than £150. However, we cannot vouch for or verify any of them. If your car has Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you'd be better off using a navigation app like Waze or Google Maps through that.
