Economical car wanted

I need a large capacity, very economical car/estate to replace my Vectra lpg conversion. I do 30-35K miles a year with a lot of motorway driving, and need space to carry equipment. I've been looking at Astra Estate lpg conversions, but is there a better solution - maybe diesel or hybrid? Looking to spend around £6-7K.

Maybe a Prius II as they have proved to be very reliable long term, clocking up 400,000 miles plus with very little trouble in the hands of taxi drivers. Don't expect more than 50mpg at normal motorway speeds, though.

Much better than the original. An enjoyable, practical, safe, economical hybrid. Looks good, too. Prius Taxis have run to 400,000 miles plus with very little trouble.
