It can't be that bad?
I am having to sell my fun and faultless 2000 Golf Cabriolet as I am setting up my own business and need a bigger vehicle.
I have a small budget of £2500 and have been tempted by a second hand 2.5 V6 Auto Freelander, but I've read nothing but negative reviews.
Are they really that bad and if so can you recommend alternatives? Does not have to be 4x4 and preferably an Automatic!

No, they're not that bad. They're the 2nd most reliable Freelander Mk1s after the 2.0 TD4s. They're all automatic. The KV6 can suffer gasket problems but is nothing like as problematic as the 1.8 K Series. Is obviously quite juicy so expect big fuel bills.
