Are there guidelines on tyre tread depth for an MoT?

My partner has just bought an Approved Used Toyota Yaris Hybrid from a Toyota main dealer on my recommendation. The MoT certificate was issued on the day of collection with no advisories. I have noticed that the tread on one of the front tyres appears to be very close to the legal limit. Are there any guidelines as to what depth low tyre tread should be advised during the MoT test please?

MoT advisories are at the discretion of the tester but as a rule a tyre should be advised if the tread depth is below 2mm at any point across the pattern of tread. If it is below this we would advise taking the car back to the dealer and asking for it to be rectified.
