Mazda 6 diesel fuel consumption

My husband purchased a new Mazda 6 estate in November 2010.

He previously owned a Honda Accord. Since buying it he has constantly complained of poor diesel consumption compared to the Honda & can hardly manage to get 40 mpg, even on a run.

The dealer is going to check the car out, but was rather vague as to a possible cause. Any suggestions please?

Get it checked out. Might be a blocked air filter or something. Might be the fuel he is using. I always found BP Ultimate to be the best diesel.
