Can I buy a left hand drive car with a French registration in the UK for use in Bulgaria?

We have a house in the EU and are looking to buy a left-hand-drive car to take to the house. While some LHD vehicles are already on UK plates and therefore registered with the DVLA, many of the cars advertised are on French, Spanish or other EU plates and I am wondering if I bought one of these how can I legally drive it from the UK to Bulgaria where I will import it

Post-Brexit the rules are more complicated, so if you buy a used vehicle in the UK on French, Spanish or other EU plates you will have to pay an import tariff of 10%. However, if you purchase the vehicle in an EU or EEA member state then this import fee is not applicable.

Once in Bulgaria you can use the vehicle for six months as long as you have third-party liability insurance as a minimum, but you will need to register the vehicle with the Bulgarian authorities. If the vehicle is registered in the UK you will need to notify the DVLA that you are permanently exporting it by completing the relevant section of the V5C. You will also need to make sure you have adequate insurance for the journey.
