Is the Kia Niro hybrid a good car for short journeys?

I need a used SUV for low-mileage use. I am not keen on fully electric vehicles and am considering a Kia Niro self-charging hybrid as my next best option. My average yearly mileage is between 3,000 - 3,500 miles and currently only drive a couple of short journeys a week due to retirement.

Would the Kia Niro hybrid be a suitable vehicle for my needs, or is there any other make of vehicle on the market that would be better?

Is there a reason you've dismissed the pure-electric version of the Niro? If you can charge a car at home, it sounds ideal for your needs and less of a compromise than a hybrid. If not, the hybrid version sounds like a good option. We rate the latest Kia Niro very highly. You could also look at the (slightly smaller) Toyota Yaris Cross.
