Distance selling regulations - do they apply to private car sales?

I have read your very useful guide on consumer rights, but I still have one question - do distance selling rules apply to private car sales as well dealer sales?

The distant selling regulations do not apply to private car sales. But the seller must have the right to sell the vehicle (which means it’s not stolen or subject to finance) and the car must be accurately described and not misrepresented (for example, telling you it hasn't been in an accident when it has).

The car also has to be roadworthy unless otherwise stated as it’s an offence to sell an unroadworthy vehicle.
