Why do so few manufacturers specify heated windscreens?

I want to replace my Freelander but I want a heated front screen on my next car. Why do so few manufacturers specify this? They are brilliant on frosty mornings. Will have to stay with Land Rover!

Heated windscreens are much more widely available than they used to be. Ford was the first manufacturer to have the technology and created a patent on it, with the brand name Quickclear. But that patent has expired. Jaguar, MINI, Skoda, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, and Volvo are among the manufacturers that now offer heated windscreens.
