Volkswagen Transporter or Ford Transit Custom?

I'm stuck between the Volkswagen Transporter and the Ford Transit Custom. The Transporter 2011 is on 118,000 miles, the Transit 2014 is on 92,000 miles. Both carpeted with rear seats and good history. The Transit is newer, fewer miles and comes with more options. But I like the Transporter and assume it will hold its value more if I put another 100,000 miles on. I know this will come down to personal choice but any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

This is a tricky decision because these are two excellent vans.

As a general rule, I usually recommend buying the newest van you can afford, which means I would probably go with the Ford Transit Custom.

However, if you are planning to convert your van into a camper I would probably go with the Volkswagen. It has a huge following and a good quality conversion will make it significantly more valuable than the Ford.
