Do I need proof I have passed my driving test while I wait for my licence?

I passed my driving test this morning but I didn’t give my provisional to my examiner to exchange for a full licence because it is my only form of ID, and I know a driving licence can take up to three weeks to come. I’ll be sending off for my drivers licence myself asap.

My question is, if for whatever reason I’m stopped by police in the meantime, will my pass certificate be enough proof to show I have amassed my test? Does my examiner immediately let DVLA know I’ve passed my test so it’s on their system to avoid any confusion or getting in trouble? Or will they not know until I send off for my full licence?

According to the DVLA website, you can start driving as soon as you pass your driving test, you don't have to wait to receive your full licence. However, you must have an insurance policy that allows you to drive without supervision.

Although you intend to send you pass certificate and documents soon, be aware that you have two years in which to do this or you'll have to take your test again.
