Controlled substance

Can you advise me whether cruise control on a long motorway journey is more fuel-efficient than the right foot? I thought that as the fuel is being constantly monitored to maintain speed, then the computer would be more sensitive than the driver.

In a large-engined, powerful car, maybe. But in a smaller car that requires increased revs to maintain speed up inclines, then the cruise control will use more fuel than a driver with a sensitive right foot who allows the car to slow up inclines and increase speed down them.
