The mem saab

I currently own a 2005 SAAB 9-5 saloon 2.2 TID Auto. It has just over 43,000 miles on the clock and has been reasonably reliable, except for the boot release that failed twice. Would you be kind enough to let me know how to get the best price and where to sell it assuming I am better off selling it privately? My annual mileage is now very low, probably 3,000 - 6,000 miles a year and I like diesel engine characteristics of low down power and torque. I like the Alfa Mito, but the salesman only wanted to talk about the new wiring system and knew very few facts and figures. He kept comparing it with a Ferrari. The replacement car must be safe, 5 star NCAP, good whiplash protection, be cheap to insure and run and be reliable. Does such a car exist? as I don't want to spend more than £11,000 including my part exchange. Pre-owned is fine.

Lucky it's the 2.2 and not the disastrous 1.9. Try www.sure-sell.info But 9-5s have never been the easiest cars to offload. The trade is generally very nervous of them. They don't make good money. If you only do 3k - 6k miles a year then you don’t need a modern diesel with a diesel particulate filter that is just going to get blocked. Far better a modern small capacity petrol turbo, such as Renault's 1.4TCe, the 1.4 Turbo in the FIAT Bravo, Grande Punto Abarth and 500 Abarth and Alfa MiTo, the 1.4TSI in the Golf V and VI, and PSA's 1.6 turbo in everything from MINIs to the new Peugeot 3008. These all pull sweetly from low revs, actually driving better than a diesel.
