Unengined species?

After reading all the glowing reports about the new 2009 VW Polo with the 1.2 TSI engine fitted with the 7-speed DSG box it seems that this model is not available at launch. Makes you wonder why most road tests concentrated on the TSI and sang its praises only to find we can't buy it and are stuck with the same old engines as this years model. Real switch off, but were VW planning to launch the TSI with DSG box here at all or did they just use it to gain publicity?

Simply because the cars originally available for road test were these. Journos cannot test what is not available to test. There seems to be a supply problem of the 1.4TSI 122 (fitted throughout the VAG range of Audis, SEATs, Skodas and VWs), now replicated with the 1.2TSI 105. I can tell you that the 2009 Polo fitted with the old belt-cam 1.4 engine and 7-speed DSG does feel like a good car and transmission waiting for a decent engine.
