Should I get mud flaps fitted to my new car?

I've just bought a Volkswagen T-Cross. Are there any advantages to having mud flaps fitted? Thank you.

Mud flaps prevent dirt and small stones from being kicked up onto the bodywork. They are useful if you need to drive across farm tracks or rural B roads, but less necessary if you will be using your car on motorways or major A roads.
