Tresbussing

I know that you consider speed cameras are largely a means to raise extra income, so what is your opinion of bus lane cameras on pointless bus lanes? By pointless I mean short lengths of bus lane just before a junction where the bus gets trapped in the traffic anyway. Many bus lanes are also dangerous. On several occasions, when driving in the bus lane outside its operating period, I have been nearly sideswiped by drivers who have not read the small notice indicating when the lane is in operation; consequently they do not check the left hand lane before swerving in at the end of the bus lane. We have just had to pay out £30 because our son drove my wife's car along such a bus lane and was caught on CCTV. The photograph clearly shows that the traffic was light and there is no bus in sight. In my opinion this is a complete misuse of council powers and the electorate should rebel against bus lanes in general and trivial lengths of bus lane in particular.

Where there is inconsistency there will always be confusion. I have twice been legally driving up a bus lane on Fulham Palace Road out of hours when cars to the right of the bus lane suddenly signalled left and turned across my path into a side road, completely unaware that any car could legally have been using the bus lane. I anticipate this. Other drivers might not.
