Transmission tansition

I drive a Toyota Verso car, which is almost 3 years old. The car has the Multi Mode Transmission (MMT). The car is superb but I have never really learnt to get on with the MMT in the automatic mode. I drive it in the manual mode. I am very used to this and like the fact that there is no clutch pedal involved. The new Verso has something called the Multidrive S version, which Toyota calls their latest continuously variable transmission technology. Do you have any experience of this Multidrive S and are the gear changes any smoother than the older MMT?
