VAT chance

I am starting a new job where I will receive an allowance instead of a company car. Today, I bought a car from auction and was wondering whether I can claim back the VAT. Do you know, or can you direct me as to where I might find out the information?

Definitely not. Not unless you are a VAT registered business and the car will be used wholly for business, e.g. sales stock, for rental, for lease, as a taxi, etc.
