Off’d Corsa

We have a 1995 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 auto 5-door that has done 44,500 miles, mostly on journeys of a mile or less in our local urban area. This could well be a good time to buy a new one, which, at our age, is likely to be our last car. We are not interested in gizmos like air-conditioning, electric windows, mirrors, radios, CDs etc. Musts are reliability, auto, power steering, ABS, 5-doors and a reasonable boot. Say to £12,000. At present we have seen Hyundai i20 Comfort and Corsa 5dr 1.4 16v Club. The Hyundai i10 ‘s boot is far too small and I am a little unsure about the safety of fitting a roof rack securely to any of the Hyundais. Have you any suggestions or advice please?

The i20 is an excellent car, though at its best as the 1.2 manual, because that is much more efficient. It’s hard to beat the unlimited mileage 5 year warranty, even though you don’t need the unlimited mileage bit. You could also consider a Suzuki Splash or Vauxhall Agila 1.2 auto.
