Transitional fluid

The main dealer wants to change the auto box oil in my 2006 MB C320CDI at 37,500 miles at a cost of almost £300. Is this necessary?

I don't think he would recommend this unless there was a good reason. It's a complicated process as the fluid needs to be at exactly the right temperature and has to be pumped out and replaced by a sort of dialysis machine.
