For those who wish to take Notes

My wife and I have been trying to decide on a new car for some time now, and are now looking at the Nissan Note automatic. However I was surprised to learn that Nissan is owned by Renault, and the car uses many Renault parts. I assume this means the automatic gearbox as well. We have always avoided Renault since I had an automatic gearbox failure and found out that Renault gearboxes have a bad reputation. Therefore I would like to know if the Nissan Note uses a Renault gearbox and if so do the Renault gearboxes still have a bad reputation for failure.

This box has been reliable. I haven't heard of any problems with it, or
with the same box in recent Renaults, Peugeots and Citroens for the past 5 years.
