To the Altea borne

I am considering buying, from new, one of either a VW Golf plus 2.0 SE TDI 6 speed auto DSG, or a Seat Altea 2.0 SE TDI DSG auto, and would appreciate your advice as to which you would recommend, bearing in mind my age of 72 years.

The Altea is cheaper but is now an old model based on the Golf V platform rather than the improved (but still basically the same) Golf VI platform. I'd add the Ford C-Max 2.0TDI Powershift to your list. Easier to get in and out of, more comfortable and generally more reliable than a VW or SEAT. But there will be an all new C-Max in the autumn, so look for a very substantial discount of as much as £4,000 - £5,000.
