Filter cough

Can you advise concerning a blocked DPF, on our 2006 Jaguar S Type 2.7 diesel that caused a major breakdown at the end of a holiday on which we travelled at high speeds from Calais to the Costa Brava and back. We purchased the car with a Jaguar Approved Warranty five months ago. The warranty company regard the filter as part of the exhaust system, which is specifically excluded from cover. Jaguar may make a goodwill payment but have yet to confirm. Our breakdown in Andorra during the return trip was well handled by Jaguar Assist, but of course they didn't pay for the new filter.

Unless there was a leak of the special additive used in PSA DPFs, they should not fail on a long run because that is the ideal condition for them to continually regenerate. I think you may have a good case for payment toward the cost from Jaguar.
