Thank heavens for small Mercs

After two years of research, arguing, test-driving and reading, my wife and I have at last agreed on one car that will suit us both, for some town driving, but mostly country and highway. It's a 2008 Mercedes C-class. It checks most of our boxes, and those that are still unchecked we can compromise on. We needed to buy a used one because a new one to our spec would have been too expensive, and the one we landed up with is a 200CDI. I think it's underpowered, but I understand that it can be "chipped" or have the ECU remapped. What do you think of this process? Are there any pitfalls, esp. re manufacturer's warranty? And I understand I'll have to let the insurance know. Any input would be welcome. As always, your columns are interesting and educational, as well as being entertaining.

I reckon the best of the W204 Mercedes C Class is the simple, basic
C200CDI Classic SE with 6-speed manual gearbox. (By which I mean the current model, not the W203.) It's the only car I have driven recently that felt as if it could last 500,000 miles. Don't muck about with it at all.
