Suzuki Kizashi (2012 – 2014) Review

Suzuki Kizashi (2012 – 2014) At A Glance

3/5

+Distinctive enough to stand out, decent handling in 4WD mode, 180PS 2.4-litre petrol engine, four-wheel-drive, paddleshifts, leather, very well equipped, only 500 coming to UK.

-CVT irritating when left on its own, economy and emissions above average, at £23,000 dearer than Skoda Octavia and Superb 1.8 TSI 4x4s.

Insurance Groups are between 26–27
On average it achieves 92% of the official MPG figure

Four wheel drive, CVT auto BMW 3 Series size saloon in UK from January 2012.

Suzuki Kizashi (2012 – 2014) handling and engines

Selecting manual shifting by paddle and pressing the four-wheel drive button transforms the car from mundane and understeery with an irritating transmission to decently secure and sporty. It’s never quite a quattro because mid corner undulations can catch it out, but it’s still a decent drive capable of giving pleasure at the cost, I guess, of a hefty increase in fuel consumed.

The Kizashi is Suzuki's Sport 'D' segment car and has been under evaluation since January prior to introduction in the UK at the end of this year. This model is built in the Sagara plant in Japan and is enjoying success in the domestic market there since launch in late 2009; it also went on sale in North America and Australia in 2010, as well as numerous European markets.

The 2011 Sport model features a host of external and internal modifications that include body side sill extensions; lower body side mouldings with chrome accents; lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels and a unique sport steering wheel.

Kizashi is highly equipped as standard including seven airbags; leather seats, four electric windows, CD tuner with eight speakers and USB Port, Dual Zone automatic air conditioning and keyless entry and start. For the UK market launch, the 178hp four cylinder engine will be mated to a performance-tuned Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and four wheel drive.
