Some things are good but I wouldn`t buy another.

I bought the car to cover the usual road use plus limited off-road use for when I go fishing.
On the road it`s a good, comfortable car to drive and living in Scotland, it has coped with fairly steep, snow covered roads without a hitch. Conditions where my neighbours have had to leave their cars at the top of the hill on the main road whenever snow is forecast or they wouldn`t be able to get out.
When I go fishing I drive along deeply rutted, muddy farm tracks and across cow fields and the Cross Country Mode has worked very well, good ground clearance helps. The boot has plenty of space for all my needs.
It`s a diesel and I like them, but the DPF regeneration is not at all well organised. I can do a long run, expecting all the soot to be burnt off only to find out the next day, on a short run, that it`s decided to regenerate. There`s no warning, it just does it when it feels like it. This means you should keep the engine running whether it`s convenient or not and you only find that out when you park up and the burning smell alerts you. If you have to stop the engine then the regeneration deisel gets dumped into your engine oil and very soon you need an unscheduled oil change.
The built-in GPS is very poor. I could update my cheap Garmin for free and it would have the very latest information. This Subaru GPS costs £100 to update but it`s still not `up-to-date`, the info is a couple of years old and it continually gets confused with new roads. It still doesn`t show the new Forth Road Bridge that opened more than two years ago!
