Overall reliability

Positive first impression so far maintained.

This was purchased pre-registered with 17 miles as a replacement for my wife's Ford Ka Mk1 and is generally used for short local journeys.

The car was obviously in as new condition and no faults are apparent so far.

The engine initially felt very "tight" and this was reflected in the mpg at first "fill-up" of 46.28. (Even this is an improvement on the old Ka which never got much over 40mpg in the same conditions.) Consumption has subsequently improved to over 50mpg as the engine continues to free up.

So far we are impressed with the feeling of solidity, spaciousness, comfort, good visibility, sensible mirrors and general ease of driving/parking.

The boot is surprisingly useful (even with a spare wheel in place) and the space within the car has accommodated an item 6ft+ long.

Although the car was purchased mainly for local use, I used it to make a 250 mile round trip to Northumberland while I was awaiting delivery of my new car and found it coped surprisingly well.

One slight downside is the poor legibility of the (rather small) date/mileage indicators in the instruments. (The car did come with the SEAT portable system (SPS) which may address this criticism but as my wife is a confirmed technophobe this has so far stayed in the box!).

A further "minus" that has become apparent is the radio reception which is appalling (and it is not down to poor reception in our local area - reception on our Leon is superb on DAB and FM). Not a big issue for us as my wife seldom uses it and we are awaiting first service before considering raising it. (I note from various forums specific to the Up!/Mii/Citigo that this is a VERY common issue which the manufacturer and dealers seem unable/unwilling to resolve.) In the meantime I decided to try a different aerial and sourced a longer (42cm) one via Ebay. This has considerably improved matters, reception now being good on BBCR1-4, classic FM and our local BBC/commercial stations.

All ratings were based on early impressions, but after 7 months ownership our views are generally unchanged and my wife remains very happy with the car, finding it ideal for its intended use.
