Practical, Dependable, Exceeds and delights in some areas, falls short in some areas.

I've had this car for over 4 years now and I have enjoyed most of those 4 years.
The big question everyone always wants to know when reading reviews is "what went wrong, what should I look out for, why shouldn't I buy one of theses" Well, you'll have to wait.
Let's start with the good things and I'll bullet point -
1. It's very economical, even for a 1.4 16v strapped to 5 speed gearbox. I average 44.9 with it going up to 52.0 around town and 43.0 on longer, motorway driving.
2. It's very roomy, like REALLY roomy. I moved house twice while owning this car and I managed to put nearly all of my possession minus big furniture of course. I could take a 6' 9" surfboard with 2 passengers. The rear bench nearly folds completely flat and has the handy sliding rear bench from the Nissan Note which make it a little van.
3. It's very comfortable for a small car, the seats offer good support and the ride is smooth on normal roads. it's quite high off the ground which helps.
4. The curved roof makes for great visibility, it's light and airy too. Parking is a dream.
5. Back to storage, it's aplenty. I've never been in a car with so much storage. there is 6 cup holders, a storage bin under the passenger seat and it has the biggest glovebox ever. I'm pretty sure it finishes just behind the N/S headlight.
6. More kit then you can shake a stick at. I once rented a 2013 Mercedes E-Class for a week and that had less equipment, I'm not joking. If your looking for gadget get either the SX or SVE, anything lower and, to quote Jeremy Clarkson, It's about as well equipped as a cave. My SX has Automatic wipers, keyless entry, auto climate control, part leather seats, drive computer and alloys. The only two extra is doesn't have is Parking sensor and ESP. Boo.
7. 1.4 is nippy around town and copes OK on motorways.
8. Nissan Brake Assist and Steering Assist are excellent. Could stop on a postage stamp and the steering stiffens up at high speed and becomes all light at slow, parking speeds.

Now comes the time of the bad things -
1. After owning it for 3 days, the airbag light came on. Common fault with the 3dr's as the side-airbag cable is under the passenger seat and if it's knocked, it makes the light come on. Hunt on some forums and there is an on-off sequence to turn it off.
2. Things that broke - Water pump belt went and took the alternator belt with it (£99 inc labour) , rear centre cupholder (50p from sc***), automatic climate control still works but occasional comes on and then doesn't turn off, annoying! (quoted £65) wiper relay (£3 plucked of a write-off), headlight came out of alignment for no reason 3 times (£15 a time at main Nissan dealer)
3. Other annoyances - Long Journeys are interesting, the engine needs a 6th gear. it's very noisy at the top end, at 75 on motorways it's doing 3500rpm and god does it make a meal out of it. The throttle body is going to die, eventually. On cold days, it doesn't idle properly and sometimes cuts out. few and far between. Handbrake makes a loud clonking noise when engaged. Lights fog up on this model. Tyres are a stupid size and only 2-3 companies make them, look to pay £45 for budget £85 for premiums. In wet weather, it handles like a pig, ABS cuts in too quick sometimes. Tax is high - 165 a year. Electrics are typical Renault junk. Nissan gave them one job and they ruined it. I'm waiting for some other bits to break as per.
Oh! and the big one!
Much to every other review, no issue with ABS module and mine is nearly 13 years old now with 113,000 on the clock and it still runs like the day I bought it.

On the whole, it's been a pleasure owning this car. If I was to buy another car in this category I would defiantly buy another one. Compared to others in the category, I think the micra has more to offer. Minus a few problems here and there but hay, nothing is perfect.

My advice, buy a SX or SVE or comparable later model. Avoid 1.4 - try the 1.2, 1.0 or 1.5DCI
Look out for a nice 160SR - very nice.
For little spares, go to a sc***yard. Nissan sold over 1,000,000 micras. Your bound to find at least 2+
