Nissan Juke (2010 - 2019)
1.6 117 Tekna CVT Auto 5dr Hatchback
A car looking for a niche
After 18 months of ownership I think we are finally falling out of love with the Juke. Not for any reasons of reliability (it has been perfect), but because what makes it so appealing at first becomes a pain later on. It has a certain 'look' which is interesting but after a while you realise that rear vision is poor, the boot is small (although it has a deep well below the removable floor, this is divided and it would have cost another £50 for a non-divided liner!), and the fuel tank is too small.
The layout of the dashboard is OK, but the steering wheel controls for the radio volume are in the wrong place and counter intuitive. The control for switching stations is larger than the volume control, but we use the volume control more frequently.
On 17" wheels the ride is jiggly and the steering is too light. The engine is a bit droney at speed and its not that economical (not terrible just adequate at 31mpg over mostly urban journeys.) Interior trim is not the best quality, feeling hard in places and scratching easily. Poor internal storage space and it is a triumph of design over practicality. Perhaps that's why so many women have bought it; including my wife.
It sounds like we don't like it. Its fine and suits our needs but I am glad we have it on an 36 month lease as I think we will get a slightly more convenient car next.
