Overall reliability

2 years old and 50k with no problems

This is my 3rd C5 and a massive improvement on the previous models.
Factory spec with added xenons, front-rear parking sensors, and the comms pack for bluetooth and USB connection.

Good points:
Fuel economy: 46-51 mpg. Tyres still 3mm+ tread after 40k (8k on Hankook winter tyres).

Minor gripes:
Lost the top off the screenwash in the early days. Poor design of the comms pack in the centre console: usb socket is difficult to access (so you leave the lead connected) and the cup holder is waste of space. If you drive with the windows open in summer you have to close them immediately due to the booming noise from the lack of aerodynamics. (Might be the estate version only?).

Performance:
The extra power in the 160 version is a massive stepup from the previous 2.2 hdi.
Not a single warning light in two years except the screenwash. Like a lot of modern cars, the consumption is pretty high with the headlamp wash.

Other random thoughts:
Why did I order the xenons ?
Because changing light bulbs in the old C5 was a fiddly garage job given to the apprentice with the smallest hands. Not sure if this version is any better.

The load height in the boot is slightly lower than previous versions, so a fridge was slightly too big...

Toys:
The automatic wipers and lights work extremely well. Set and forget.
The speedo, odometer and tripmeters convert easily to KM and back, which simplifies driving sur le continent, which is a regular trip for me. Also, no beam benders required as the xenons are flat beam and homologated.
Electric seats: infinitely adjustable, and one of the reasons I like this car.
The heated seats are just a nice-to-have. The massage seat function is a family joke: the buckin bronco.

Non-routine servicing:
Lost half the undertray in deep deep snow last year. Replacement fitted was very reasonable.
Otherwise 2 normal 20k services complete. Fuel economy starts to deteriorate at 18k interval.
Oil top up at 15k after main service : 1 litre each time. But this car does cruise at 80-85 on the foreign motorway, when mpg typically drops to 40-42.
