98 1.8 Priming a diesel engine help! - Halis
I have a dodgy fuel gauge and I stupidly let me diesel escort run dry without realising. I have put enough in from a can to get it started but it still won't turn over. Someone has said i need to prime it - never done this before and excuse my ignorance but I don't know enough to just fiddle around. Where do I find the pump when I look under the bonnet and generally how long do I need to pump it for?

If it still doesn't start (in anticipation) any ideas why?

Thanks!

Should be a button on top of the fuel filter, keep pumping it until it goes hard.

Do not over stress the button. It is 11 years old and the rubber may slit and priming will not happen. Regards Peter
