Can anyone shed some light how u do this, do u just type in the pin? Rather worried that if we faff around with it, it will lock its self.
The car in question is a bog standard L reg 2.0 ghia Mondeo, we have got the handbook [no help] haynes manual [no help] but no radio manual [so no help]

The radios usually have a four figure code, which you can change (if you have the handbook!) - what happens with mine, a Philips radio, is that if you enter the wrong code, you have to wait 2 mins. before you can try again, then if still wrong, 4 mins., then it doubles the waiting time each wrong entry. You need to take it to an electrical specialist to have it recoded, but they may ask for proof of ownership.

If it is a Ford radio and you have the code,you put the first number in using button 1,second using 2and so on,after the last number push the next button and it should work.If you don't have the code,remove the radio,go to your dealer with the serial number of the radio or the radio itself and proof of ownership and he can obtain the code from Ford,then proceed as above.

Few more details, its a standard Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette.

Do I press 1 four times to type a 4 [for example in], then 2 to type a 5 in 5 times, then 3 so many times, then 4 so many times?
This realy shouldn't be so difficult.

You will see the results of your key pressing on the display. Should be simple to work out what is happening.

Ref mondeo radio code,to input the code switch on the radio and the radio display should flash.using the preset buttons you then enter the four digit code i.e. if the code was say 4721 push preset button 1 four times until the no.4 shows. for the second no. use preset 2 and so on , when all four numbers are showing press and hold the select button until the radio comes on . if the code does not flash you will have to leave the radio switched on for approx.35 to 40 mins until the display flashes.
