peugeot 307 sw hdi estate 2003 - ABS fault on dash display - tinkerer

could any of you good people give me some advice

I have recently purchased this car and this ABS fault notice comes on when I start the car. and their is an illuminated symbol on the dash continually. I was informed that it was nothing serious but there is obviously some issue with the brakes although it drives and brakes perfectly. any suggestions as to what the possible cause/remedy is would be most apriciated.

If the abs light/warning panel is on ,then the anti lock function is not operational.Best way it could be a sensor(cheap),worst way it could be the main control unit/modulator.(very expensive).A diagnostic investigation is needed to establish were the fault is located.Also the abs light on is a definite mot fail.hth

Was this a private or trade sale? If the latter, take it back!

ABS light on is an instant MoT failure. Also potentially dangerous as the ABS will not function in the event of wheel lock up.

Don't wish to appear unsympathetic, but I'm amazed that anyone would buy any car with the ABS light on. Surely it's common knowledge that the symbol on the dash might as well be ££ signs!!
