What's happened to my Citroen C2's digital speedometer and odometer?

I have a Citroen C2 1.4 diesel (2006) which has done 32,000 miles. The digital speedo has stopped working, the odometer isn't recording miles and the info display is telling me a variety of things all at random! I have had the car to a reputable electrical specialist, who is nonplussed, and Citroen say that they would have to do a full check as nothing shows on the diagnostics, but confirm that brakes etc are all fine. Citroen can't provide me with even an approximate estimate, let alone a quote or even indicate what the problem might be. Can you suggest anything?

Probably a failed gasket and an oil leak into the speed sensor attached to the final drive. Because that isn't working and the power supply is can bus, it affects the other components. On a Ford it costs £100 to put right. Don't know how much on a Citroen.
