Buying a used KIA Sportage - which model is best?

Which Kia Sportage shall I go for? I drive 8000 miles a year and have a budget up to £12,000. The car must be economical and comfortable.

The 1.7 diesel on no bigger than 16-inch wheels probably works out as the best compromise, even though you don't do the mileage to justify diesel.
