V70 D5 replacement suggestion?

I’m looking to replace my trusty V70 D5 after 11 years and 135,000 miles. I’m tending towards petrol rather than diesel to avoid problems with DMF, DPF, etc as I’m looking at long-term ownership. However, I’m struggling to find a large/mid-sized manual petrol estate 2-5 years old with decent performance. The Avensis 1.8 Valvematic ticks most boxes but falls well short on performance. Do you have any bright ideas?

The problems with the VWG petrol engines seem to have been fixed from the manifold in head direct and indirect injected EA888s from 2013, but some models did not get these until 2015. The new Skoda Superb estate theoretically offers the widest choice of EU6 petrol and diesel engines, and the 1.4 TSI 150 ACT pulls an easy 130mph in 4th so is well up to the performance of your D5. There's a lot of funny stuff going on at the moment that is being kept quiet. Basically, manufacturers have to keep the average CO2 of their entire European sales below 130g/km for year ending 31-12-2015. Yet, at the same time, there is apparently a glut of EU5 cars that have to be registered as sold before 1st September 2015, and if the manufacturers have got their sums wrong, registering these cars could put their corporate average CO2 over 130g/km, especially registering petrol models that averagely emit higher CO2 than diesels.
