Is the Superb identical to the Passat?

I've owned a Skoda Superb Estate 170 DSG Elegance for nearly three years and love it. However, for the first time, I'm tempted to replace a car with the same again.

When I bought it, I calculated it was thousands of pounds cheaper than an equivalent Volkswagen Passat, but now I can't tell the difference. How do they differ or are they essentially the same car?

Similar drivetrain, longer wheelbase, just like the previous Superb was essentially a long wheelbase B6 Passat. But now an all new Passat is about to arrive, while the Superb soldiers on in its 2008 incarnation.
