Yaris or Fiesta for a low mileage driver?

I' planning to buy either a Toyota Yaris (2009-2011) or Ford Fiesta (2008 onwards).

Which of the two do you recommend for reliability, holding its value well, build quality and running costs. I'm planning to spend around £6500-7000. Based on your recommendation what engine do you recommend and should I go petrol or diesel if my mileage is below 10,000 a year? I'm keeping the car for 5 years or less.

Buy either. You wont get a Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost within budget so it will have to be a 1.25 82PS or a 1.4. If you go for the Yaris it will have to be a 1.33 because, though it's fun to drive around town, the 3 cylinder 1.0 litre engine is a bit buzzy. For your mileage a diesel, and particularly a diesel with a DPF, makes no sense.
