Buying a new Volkswagen Golf - which model is best?

I have recently retired and want to buy a new Volkswagen Golf. I cover 14,000 miles a year and want a model that’s cheap to run and comfortable to drive. I’ve tested the 1.6 diesel, but can't make up my mind. Which model is best?

I'd go for the Golf VII 1.2TSI 105 or 1.4TSI 122 rather than the 1.6 diesel. Likely to cost a lot less to run in years 3-6.
